All VIA boards have passed FCC, CE, and BSMI. Both certificates and reports are available through Elco by request.
6. Is there a naming rule among EPIA mini-iTX series mainboards?

7. What is the NB chip version using on EPIA M/CL/TC/MII/PD/MS respectively?
EPIA M: 123A4 (CLE CD); EPIA CL/TC/MII/PD/MS: 123C1 (CLE CE)
8. What is the first motherboard in EPIA series to use CLE266 chipsets? And the first one to use CN400 chipsets?
CLE266: EPIA M; CN400: EPIA SP
9. How to update EPIA Mini-ITX Series Motherboard BIOS?
Please download the latest Bios from VIA website and use BIOS Flash Utility to update BIOS.
10. System seems unstable after updating BIOS. What can I do?
Please load BIOS optimal default; if the system instability remains, clear CMOS to solve the problem.
11. Can I add customer's logo into BIOS as default? And what are the limitations?
Yes, logo can be loaded into BIOS as default. File format – BMP, image size – no bigger than 300K, color – 16bit 256 colors, resolution: 640x480.
12. Why can’t I get 5.1 channel audio output successfully after installing audio driver and setting up relevant hardware and software correctly?
Please refer to the User’s Manual and check whether relevant hardware/software settings as well as signal connections are set correctly. Also make sure the multimedia files, such as DVD, CD ROM, MP3 files, and multimedia players support 5.1 channel audio output.
13. Is 3D CAD file available for mechanical drawing?
Yes, it is available through Elco. Basically the mechanical drawing included in the Operating Guides should have enough details. Users must specify the purpose but please specifically point out the customer’s purpose.
14. What reliability tests are performed in factory?
MTBF – Mean Time Between Failure test.
15. What is the maximum EEPROM size can be supported on the EPIA?
For current EPIA boards (EPIA~EPIA PD), the max size is 4Mb. For future EPIA boards (EPIA MS, SP, etc.), the max size will be 8Mb.
16. What is total power consumption of EPIA?
Power consumption details are listed in Operating Guides.
17. Does EPIA support booting-up from USB flash drive?
Yes. Choose USB HDD or USB ZIP as the boot-up device.
18. Will SATA be supported to any future EPIA motherboards soon?
SATA is a spec regarding to VIA new SB chip VT8237. EPIA SP will support SATA.
19. Does EPIA VA support USB 2.0?
Yes, VT6202 chip set applied in EPIA VA supports USB 2.0.
20. Can EPIA-M set TV out as default?
Yes, set the display device in the BOIS and driver. If RCA is applied instead of S-Video, ensure to set the onboard RCA/SPDIF jumper to select RCA.
21. What is the required AC adapter SPEC for EPIA TC, including the connector dimension?
SPEC: 12V, 5A, 60W; Connector dimension: I.D.=2.5mm, O.D.=5.5mm, Length?11mm.
22. Can EPIA TC be booted up from CF card?
No.
23. Can EPIA TC be booted up from CF card?
No.
24. EPIA-TC has 12V on board? Does that mean DC-DC converter is not required?
Yes, EPIA TC has DC to DC onboard, so it doesn’t need a power supply or a power converter board. Only an AC adapter is needed.
25. Can I add IEEE1394 function for EPIA-MII?
Yes, one IEEE1394 connector on back panel and one IEEE1394 pin header on board.
26. What is the form factor of our nano-iTX series boards?
12cm x 12cm.
27. What is the special CPU package we are using on EPIA N?
NanoBGA, using Flip-Chip package 12cm x 12cm.
28. What is the form factor of our nano-iTX series boards?
12cm x 12cm.
29. How many USB ports can we have on EPIA N?
6: 2 on back panel and 4 as a pin header on board.
30. Is there still an expansion slot on EPIA N?
Yes. There is a MiniPCI slot on the bottom side.
31. Is there any composite video output directly from back panel on EPIA N?
Yes. The RCA jack on back panel is to be chosen from composite video or SPDIF outputs. A jumper in the back of the jack is use to choose between the selections.
